UIT Kottarakara is the Nineth centre under Kerala University. It is functioning at the campus of the Govt Vocational Higher Secondary School for girls, Kottarakara. At first the centre was sanctioned for BBA and BCA only with 45 students in each batch. Now the centre runs the courses for B.Com Commerce with Computer Application and M.Com Finance and Accounting along with BBA and BCA.

Adv.Smt.P Aisha Potty (MLA) was the motive behind this centre. The inauguration of the institution took place on 6th October 2008. The grand function was chaired by Adv.Smt.P Aisha Potty (MLA), Sri. M A Baby Hon:Minister for Education and Culture gave the Inaugural Address and Sri. Chengara Surendran MP was the Guest of Honour. The then Vice Chancellor of Kerala University, Dr.Gangan Prathap formally inaugurated the courses at the centre, The Principal of the institution Dr.P.N Gangadharan Nair offered the vote of thanks.
